Robin, thank you for the insight. I was merely stating the simple truth of what you said that the preparation over an extended period of time has allowed these top athletes to react instead of thinking about the action. The average golfer needs to prepare more which will help lead to better results, however, most players have an ability inside them from some years of preparation except that they cloud that judgement and confidence by letting fear creep in. This ultimately makes the player think more about the action instead of reacting. Thank you for your thoughts. Very informative. Talk to you soon.

Brian,

Instead of saying these elite athletes "reacted" to their touchdown throw, winning jumper, or drop shot, would it not be fairer to say they were so focused in the moment that there was no internal dialogue? A term like "reacted" signifies that there is no forethought, and these athletes have practiced over and over again (both mentally and physically) on how to respond in certain situations. They have spent so much time practicing and anticipating that they are able to circumvent surprises in competition. Optimal performance may occur by maintaining focus on the present. For a strong performance in any sport at a top level, a lengthy preparation has already taken place. Therefore, while they may react in the winning shot or throw, this reaction has come with lots and lots of hard work (which most likely has included a correct thought process.)

Nice job Brian. Congrats. Thanks so much for the time you've spent on my swing. Some things are beginning to take hold. I have a fun tourney in Pinehurst with some college buds this weekend to put things to the test. Will see you soon. Jason
